Kat Long is a journalist and author specializing in sexuality and the social history of New York. She is the author of the forthcoming book THE FORBIDDEN APPLE: A Century of Sex and Sin in New York City (Ig Publishing, January 2009). Kat was the chief writer of two editions of the annual best-selling guidebook Sexy New York City, and the editor-in-chief for the premiere edition of Sexy Miami (On Your Own, LLC). She is the former managing editor of GO Magazine. She continues to publish freelance articles on sex and history (her two favorite subjects) in the Gay and Lesbian Review, the New York Blade, Playgirl, the Village Voice, BUST, and other media. Kat is a Contributing Writer on Suite101.com, a daily-updated content provider with millions of readers a month. She also contributed entries to the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Gay Folklife, to be published by M.E. Sharpe in 2009. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 1997 with a BA in Creative Writing, and she will begin graduate study in the history program at Hunter College/City University of New York in Fall 2008.
